Your Future Team

We’re looking for engineers who love to innovate, are ambitious and driven, and are excited about the opportunity to work with smart people on complex challenges.

  • Product Security: Collaborate with developers to identify, resolve, and prevent vulnerabilities, ensuring our products are robust and secure. Engage in activities like source code auditing, threat modelling, and security reviews to empower engineering teams to build secure software by default.
  • Corporate Security: Enhance the security of Atlassian’s internal assets and networks, safeguarding our employees and infrastructure. Work on initiatives that promote security awareness and continuous improvement across the organisation.
  • Detections and Response: Engage in the critical task of monitoring and analysing logs to identify potential threats and anomalies. As part of the Detections and Response team, you'll be involved in developing and refining detection logic, creating alerts, and responding to incidents.
  • Security Assessments: Develop your expertise in penetration testing and Red Team activities to evaluate and strengthen Atlassian's security posture. You'll conduct comprehensive security assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Security Governance and Risk Management: Contribute to the development and implementation of security governance frameworks and risk management strategies. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security practices into all aspects of the organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Build and run new monitoring and analytics systems to detect compromises.
  • Write automation to find and exploit vulnerabilities in our products and marketplace apps.
  • Research and suggest product features to harden our software against common vulnerabilities.
  • Architect and secure hardware, networks and corporate infrastructure.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Able to commit to a 12-week full-time (40hrs/week) program from November 2026 - February 2027.
  • Current full-time enrolment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Software Engineering, Computer Science or other related technical program and returning to the program after the completion of the internship, graduating by January 2028.
  • Innovative Engineers: We seek ambitious and driven individuals who are excited about the opportunity to work with some of the best Security Engineers in the business on complex challenges.
  • Passion for Cyber Security: A strong interest in web application security, encryption, authentication, access control, and risk management is essential.
  • Team Players: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams are crucial.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience programming with Java, Python, JavaScript, or other related object-oriented programming languages
  • Demonstrated interest in the security field through academic coursework, previous work or internship experience, or personal projects
