Kiewa Valley Primary School is a rural school with a student population of 140 students. We are located in the township of Tangambalanga in the beautiful Kiewa Valley. A large number of our students travel to school by bus from nearby communities such as Kergunyah, Gundowring, Charleroi, Huon, Kiewa and Allans Flat.
In 2025 we have an seven grade structure. Art, Music, Science, STEM, Humanities, AUSLAN and Physical Education are specialist areas of the curriculum which support and connect to our classroom programs.
Our school community is built on positive relationships and a supportive culture where the education, safety and wellbeing of each child is highly valued by all members of our school community.
We teach emotional intelligence with a focus on embedding our values as virtues. These values nurture and guide our everyday interactions.
The golden rule of 'Treating people the way you wish to be treated' underpins the culture of our school along with being kind and grateful. The hope is that our values will become the cornerstones of our school culture and become lived and embedded.
At Kiewa Valley Primary School we value:
Kindness
Respect
Integrity
Inclusion
We believe that in order to learn and grow students need an environment which is happy, caring, safe and secure. All members of our community are charged with the responsibility of ensuring that our environment is safe and secure. As a school, we have no tolerance for bullying of any form.
Students are encouraged to use the relationships which exist with adults in our school to seek out assistance when in challenging situations. We also explore the growing issue of Cyber Bullying with our students and will continue to revisit this issue over time. There is a deep commitment to the nurturing and development of our students as individuals and to fostering their individuality. Personal achievement and striving to succeed in all aspects of school are valued and supported. All students are encouraged to take on responsibilities within the school and to develop a social conscience. We now conduct SRC's across our whole school. We actively work with our students to develop their decision making, problem solving and critical thinking skills. It is through these approaches that we aim to develop students who will go on into their future to become fully engaged, active citizens of our society.
Within our school grounds we have an Early Learning Centre which incorporates both Child Maternal Health (managed by Indigo Shire), and the Kiewa Valley Kindergarten which is run by the school). This makes for a smooth and successful transition for students and families as they move from one area to another.
