Graduate Teacher Program - Bundalaguah Primary School

Bundalaguah Primary School is a small rural school situated midway between 2 larger centres of Sale and Maffra.  It was opened in 1872 and the historic building, which is still in use, is a significant feature of the school.  Bundalaguah Primary School has very spacious, well maintained grounds and is set in the scenic Maffra irrigation district surrounded by dairy and beef farms.

 Bundalaguah staff and School Council maintain a commitment to ensuring that small class sizes are a feature of our school.

Bundalaguah Primary School follows the Victorian curriculum and has a priority focus on Literacy and Maths and is enhanced by a variety of programs.

Bundalaguah is a Respectful Relationship school and our weekly program incorporates lessons to promote social and emotional learning, inclusiveness and acceptance.   Bundalaguah is a School Wide Positive Behaviours environment and staff promote desired behaviours through acknowledging positive actions and choices.

Bundalaguah is an active participant of the Sale Rural School's Cluster which includes 5 other small schools. Our staff work collaboratively together for the best interests of all the children in our cluster. 

Students from the Cluster Schools are given opportunities to interact regularly which is considered an important aspect of transition especially for senior students.  Cluster children join together for camps, sports, leadership conferences and Group Days. 

The Rural Cluster is an important aspect of Bundalaguah Primary and supports staff in their teaching and learning.

 

Selection Criteria - Graduates

SC1    Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the capacity to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills. Demonstrated capacity to respond to student learning needs.

SC2    Demonstrated capacity to implement high impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluate the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth. 

SC3    Demonstrated capacity to monitor and assess student learning. Demonstrated capacity to use data to inform teaching practice and to provide feedback on student learning growth and achievement to students and parents.

SC4    Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated capacity to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the broader school community to support student learning, wellbeing and engagement.    

SC5    Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values. Demonstrated capacity to reflect upon practice and engage in professional learning to continually improve the quality of teaching.
