Harston Primary School is a small rural school located in the heart of the Goulburn Valley, approximately 10 minutes from Tatura and 25 minutes from Shepparton. With an enrolment of just seven students, the school offers highly personalised learning experiences, strong relationships with families, and a collaborative team environment. Students learn in a whole-school classroom where teaching is tailored to individual needs, supported by specialist programs including Auslan, Creative Arts, Physical Education and Wellbeing. What you'll do

Core responsibilities include:

  • Planning and implementing a range of teaching programs or courses of study
  • Teaching an area of the curriculum or a general curriculum to a year level
  • Monitoring, evaluating and reporting student progress in key learning areas
  • Implementing strategies to achieve targets related to student learning outcomes
  • Maintaining records of class attendance and recording student progress
  • Implementing effective student management consistent with school policies
  • Working with a mentor to participate in professional development planning, implementation and reflection, developing a professional portfolio

Additional responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Supervising a range of student activities including support and welfare programs
  • Contributing to a range of co-curricular programs

Who we're looking for

We are seeking a passionate graduate teacher who is committed to student learning and wellbeing and is eager to contribute to a close-knit school community. Successful applicants will demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of the Victorian Curriculum and the ability to support literacy and numeracy development
  • A willingness to implement effective teaching strategies and respond to individual student needs
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A commitment to ongoing professional learning and reflective practice
  • The ability to work collaboratively with students, families and colleagues

Applicants must also meet the following requirements:

  • Hold provisional or full registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT)
  • If the person completed an Australian postgraduate level initial teaching program or course of study on or after 1 January 2024, they must demonstrate satisfactory completion of an accredited postgraduate initial teacher education program
  • Graduates of Victorian Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programs after 1 July 2016 must have met the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education (LANTITE) requirements

Who can apply?

To be eligible to apply for a position advertised through the Teacher Graduate Recruitment Program, applicants must:

  • Have completed their course requirements and graduated within the last four years
  • Not be employed as a teacher by the Department of Education at the time the position commences
  • Be currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching
