In our generalist stream, we’re looking for graduates with degrees in any area.

This stream is perfect for you if:

  • you're open to exploring different professional areas
  • your degree doesn't align with our other streams.

We'll place you in a role that matches your skills and experience. Once you start, you'll remain in the generalist stream for the duration of the program.

Range of work

In the generalist stream, you'll have the opportunity to make a real impact and contribute to meaningful projects, such as:

  • implementing legislative changes or new government initiatives and policies
  • analysing management information to identify trends and prepare insightful reports
  • supporting major improvement initiatives that enhance our customers' experiences
  • providing crucial support to Australians affected by national disasters
  • contributing to major technology, compliance, communication and service delivery projects
  • drafting and coordinating question time, senate estimates and ministerial briefs, speeches and presentations
  • supporting our minister, Chief Executive Officer and senior executives.

What you’ll get

  • a competitive salary, ranging between $71,170 - $79,322 depending on your qualification level
  • progression to the APS5 classification at successful completion of the program

Eligibility

To be eligible for the program, you must be an Australian citizen.

You’ll need to have successfully passed and completed an undergraduate or postgraduate degree within the last 5 years.

If you got your degree overseas, you’ll need to have it recognised by the Department of Education.
