Social Responsibility

Net Zero

Climate change presents an emerging and increasing risk with the potential to impact our operations, supply chains, stakeholders and the communities within which we operate. Evolution’s Sustainability journey including the management of climate risk has been integrated into our strategy since inception.

Tier 1 Jurisdictions

Gold mining is an inherently risky business. We minimise our exposure to the rise in geopolitical risk by strategically focusing on operating in the lower risk, tier 1 jurisdictions of Australia and Canada.

Through this we attempt to satisfy our commitment to providing workplaces and supporting communities where our people, including contractors and business partners, are physically and psychologically safe, healthy, and well. In doing so Evolution also minimises its exposure to modern day slavery.

Modern slavery

We are committed to operating responsibly and establishing and adhering to the highest ethical standards and aspire for our suppliers to do the same. We reject any activities which may cause or contribute to modern slavery, including forced or bonded labour, child labour, human tracking, slavery, servitude, forced marriage or deceptive recruiting for labour or services.

Perpetual

Our third Modern Slavery Statement was approved in FY23. Each year, the Statement is endorsed by the Board through the Risk and Sustainability Committee, and Leadership Team. We consider that any form of modern slavery is unacceptable and acknowledge our responsibility in helping to eradicate it.

Community investment

We have an established tradition of supporting innovative, targeted local initiatives in our neighbouring communities and have expanded support to nationally and globally relevant programs.

Our community investment framework, comprising Shared Value Projects and sponsorships and donations, aims to address specific challenges faced by our local stakeholders and catalyse long-term socio-economic development in local communities.

One such community investment Case study from FY23 is Evolutions investment into the University of Queensland medical research departments lifesaving, early warning diagnostics of cancer and Covid-19 using Evolution gold.
